Problem:

We have an extremely large data set (all US children in the foster care system for the past 15 years; 800-900k per year), although we have pared it down to one that is only 365,549 cases for a paper we are working on. Unfortunately, when I try to analyze the data with a statistical software program on my desktop computer, I simply get the message that there is not enough memory to do so.

Research:

Our goal is to fit multi-level models with an iterative estimation procedure known as maximum likelihood, exploring how multiple placements and home removals affect risk for psychological disorders in children. These are public data and the research we are doing is not funded.

Software:

R
We want to use SASS on the DLX when available
