Kolesar, Jill

Kolesar Research Summary:

The overarching aim of our lab is to understand how underlying genetic changes in ovarian and lung cancer affect chemotherapeutic treatment options. Using a combination of tissue culturing, mouse, and organoid tumor models, we specifically focus on mutations that have potential to be targeted by existing or novel chemotherapeutics.  The lab uses high throughput sequencing technologies combined with classic molecular biology to unravel complex molecular networks that can affect cancer progression and treatment.

The bioinformatic analysis of the raw RNA-seq data

Software:

RSEM, Samtools, Bedtools, Tophat, Bowtie2, Cufflinks2, HISAT2, Blast, BWA, and Trinity. For predicted protein analysis, we use publicly available software packages including Prottest3.4.2 and MrBayes. Supplementary software to perform these analyses include R and Geneious software.
