Creating an OURRstore Account

Eligible Users

In addition to the University of Oklahoma, OURRstore is open to any institution in the following programs.

  • Great Plains Network (GPN)

  • Estab­lished Program to Stim­u­late Com­pet­i­tive Research (EPSCoR)

The University of Kentucky in a part of the latter, so any UKy researcher can apply for an OURRstore account, provided they are not storing data that requires special protections (for example, HIPPA).

 

Creating an Account

In order to use OURRstore to store data, you first need to create a project group and add any users you wish to have access to said data.

  1. Submit a request for an OSCER account to the OSCER Account Request Form for each person on the project who needs access to the data

    1. Make sure to include in the form that you are creating the account to use OURRstore specifically. The form is used for other purposes.

    2. A Principal or Co-Principal Investigator will also need to create an account using this form. If you are not this role, make sure that if/when asked for PI information to include that person's information in the form.

      1. The form may ask for an advisor/faculty member from the University of Oklahoma as the PI, but any person from your institution with a similar role for your project can be used for this field as well.

    3. Rules about research group name (for PI)

      1. 3-12 characters long; lowercase letters and digits only; first character must be a letter

      2. DO NOT use a name based on OURRstore; choose a name based on what the team does/project is

      3. Prepend your institution's abbreviation

        1. In our case, it would be uky

    4. Suggestions for remaining part of group name

      1. A condensed word/phrase that describes team's topic area

      2. Last name of PI

  2. Sign and submit an OSCER User Agreement form

  3. Setup a mandatory training session with OURRstore.

    1. Email: support@oscer.ou.edu

    2. The training session is available live or over videoconference (ca. 30 min. long)

  4. Purchase at least 2 LTO-9 tape cartridges to be shipped to OU

    1. Recommended to purchase IBM LTO Ultrium brand of tapes

  5. SSH into dtn2.oscer.ou.edu to confirm you have access and can transfer files.

    1. The tape archive is under /archive/ourrstore/<group name>/, as either tape_2copies or tape_3copies
