Requesting an allocation or an account (Non-UKY users only)
Requesting an Allocation and Adding Users to the Educelab Cluster
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for non-UKY Principal Investigators (PIs) requesting an allocation on UKY LCC and MCC clusters and for users who need to be added to that allocation.
Important:
Only the PI can request an allocation or add users.
All users (including the PI) must first log into the SSH Key Management System to generate their User ID before submitting any request for a new allocation or to be added to an allocation.
All external (non-uky) users must upload SSH keys to access the cluster.
For First-Time external(non-UKY) PI’s Requesting a New Allocation
To request an allocation on the UKY HPC clusters, follow these steps:
Log Into the SSH Key Management System (for both PI & Users)
The PI and all team members must log into the SSH Key Management System to generate their User ID.
The User ID will be displayed in the system against the username.
The PI must note their User ID before proceeding to the next step.
Refer to this guide for detailed instructions on using the SSH Key Management System.
Submit an Allocation Request (for PI Only)
The PI must submit an allocation request through the support portal:
Request Allocation FormThe form includes a questionnaire where the PI must provide details such as:
User ID (generated from Step 1)
Project description
Group research activities
Computational methodologies
Software requirements
Initial resource request (core hours, storage, GPU, CPU)
Upload SSH Keys (both PI & Users)
The PI and all team members must upload their SSH keys to the SSH Key Management System.
Refer to this guide for detailed instructions.
Once uploaded, open a support ticket to notify that SSH keys have been added.
Allocation Setup & Access
Once the allocation is created, the PI and all team members will receive an email with:
Cluster access details
Available compute and storage resources
For non-UKY PIs Adding Users to an Existing Allocation
If you already have an allocation and need to add new external users:
Ensure New external Users Log Into the SSH Key Management System
Before the PI submits the request, all users being added must first log into the SSH Key Management System to generate their User ID.
The PI must collect these User IDs before proceeding.
Submit a Request to Add Users (PI Only)
The PI must submit a request via the User Addition Request Form.
The PI must provide the User IDs of the users being added.
Users Being Added Must Upload SSH Keys
The new users must:
Upload their SSH keys to the SSH Key Management System. See details here.
Once uploaded, open a support ticket to confirm their SSH keys have been added.
Access Notification
Once processed, newly added users will receive an email with access instructions.
