MCC storage Quotas
MCC Scratch storage space (typically located under /scratch and /pscratch) on CCS/ITSRCI systems is short-term storage for active computation, not long-term storage. Files that have not been accessed or modified for 90 days are automatically deleted under the scratch space purge policy.
Deliberately circumventing this policy is prohibited. This includes artificially modifying file timestamps to evade the automated purge mechanism—for example, by running touch or any equivalent manual or scripted method to reset access or modification times. Similarly, making copies and deleting the original to avoid the purge mechanism is not allowed. Such actions constitute misuse or abuse of technology resources under the University of Kentucky Administrative Regulation AR 10:1.
Under AR 10:1-IV.K.(d), violations may result in corrective actions, up to and including suspension or termination of access to technology resources, and disciplinary action. The University may also temporarily suspend or block access to accounts or data while a violation is investigated. Users will receive notice before any sanction is applied.
Important notes
CCS/ITSRCI does not back up data on behalf of users. You are responsible for keeping backup copies of your data. If a CCS/ITSRCI file system experiences data loss, CCS/ITSRCI is not responsible for recovering your data.
CCS/ITSRCI automatically deletes unaccessed data under
/scratchand/pscratchperiodically. If your data is not accessed at least once every 90 days, it will be deleted.Attempts to circumvent the 90-day purge policy will result in your account being suspended and investigated, as detailed in University of Kentucky Administrative Regulation 10:1. This includes artificially updating file timestamps in a manual or scripted manner, or copying and deleting files.

We provide additional 10 TB storage per PI on our Object store that is not connected to the HPC cluster and this is by request only and not by default. Please contact us if you need accounts on our Object storage.
Please see the link for updated paths to your allocated storage spaces: Paths to use in your job scripts.
The command "/usr/local/bin/projects quotas" will show your current storage quotas for your accounts on LCC cluster.
For all large data transfers, please login to our data transfer node (DTN) mcc-dtn.ccs.uky.edu and do your transfers(rclone, scp etc). The login nodes are on a slower external up-link connection.
We also provide a GLOBUS endpoint on our DTN node for external data transfers. See here for details How To Transfer Files with Globus
