Login Nodes, DTN node and Usage

We have 6 login nodes on the cluster.

Do not run any jobs or I/O-intensive processes on the login nodes. You must use the Slurm batch scheduler. Repeatedly locking up the login nodes may result in your account being suspended.

The login nodes to the cluster can be accessed by connecting to the hostname lcc.uky.edu

All login node connections are given by round-robin through the campus DNS server. In case if for any reason if any one of the login nodes goes down, you can get the server unavailable even if other login nodes are available.

You can try logging back again to LCC again or you can individually try to login to any of the 6 login nodes by their hostnames from the following table.

IP addressLogin node hostname
10.33.41.42lcclogin1.ccs.uky.edu
10.33.41.43lcclogin2.ccs.uky.edu
10.33.41.44lcclogin3.ccs.uky.edu
10.33.41.45lcclogin4.ccs.uky.edu
10.33.41.46lcclogin5.ccs.uky.edu
10.33.41.47lcclogin6.ccs.uky.edu

We also have a dedicated data transfer node (DTN) with hostname dtn.ccs.uky.edu

All login nodes are on a slow network and users are encouraged not to do any data transfers on the login nodes. All data transfers are to be done through the data transfer node that is on a high-speed network.
