How to setup Client-Server Connection for LCC:
Open VisIt on your personal computer.
Selection Options > Host Profiles from the menu bar.
In the new Host Profile window, select New Host to begin creating a host definition file for LCC.
Insert the information as indicated in the following screenshot – be sure to change the username to your ID on LCC.
Click the Launch Profiles tab to create a profile for parallel compute engines.
Click New Profile and enter the information similar to the following screenshot:
This is a profile for a debug node on LCC. You must change this information to reflect the queue/account/time limit for your specific requirements.
Highlight LCC in the left-hand column of hosts and click Export Host to write the changes to the file.
Click Apply.
Click Dismiss.
You should now be able to load a dataset from LCC by going to File>Open and selecting LCC from the Host drop-down menu.
This will initiate an SSH connection to the LCC and request your password.
And the file-open dialog will show files located on the LCC:
Select the dataset that you would like to view. Highlight it and click OK.
A new window will appear, prompting you to select the compute engines you would like to use:
When the compute engines are established, you can check the status using an SSH connection to LCC:
When you are finished viewing your data, be sure to close out everything safely to release resources correctly and keep your dataset from becoming corrupted.
To release the compute engines go to File>Compute Engines in the menu bar. In the new window, select Close Engine and confirm.
